The day began early with Torchbearer Kirsty Wade, 49, from the Isle of Lewis, who carried the Flame to the Calanais Standing Stones for sunrise. Kirsty is a triple Commonwealth gold medallist in athletics, and also competed in the Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.
Later in the morning, the Flame travelled by quad bike in the hands of Torchbearer John Mitchell, 31, from Stornoway. John is a three times quad motor cross champion.
After another journey by plane, this time from Stornoway airport to Inverness, the Flame made its way to Castlegate Square in Aberdeen. The final Torchbearer of the day was Evelyn Capper, 60, from Elton, who was selected for her passion and commitment to foster caring.
The line-up for the evening celebration in Aberdeen included music from Emeli Sandé, a dance troupe that provided a unique fusion of street performance plus theatre and sport and dance act Twist and Pulse. Towards the end of the show, Evelyn Capper lit a celebration cauldron on stage to allow the Olympic Flame to be seen by the audience.
