Day 42 of the Olympic torch relay - the Flame travels on the Heights of Abraham cable car


The Olympic Flame travelled on the Heights of Abraham cable car and visited Chatsworth House on its journey from Nottingham to Derby on Day 42 of the Torch Relay.

Today the Olympic Torch Relay travelled 112.40 miles through 12 communities on its journey from Nottingham to Derby.

Highlights for the day included visits to landmarks such as Nottingham Castle, Newstead Abbey and Chatsworth House.

The Flame was carried on the Height of Abraham cable car by Torchbearer Dominick Cunningham. Dominick is a British gymnast who was part of the silver medal winning team at the 2011 European Youth Olympic Games. Later that year he went on to be the most successful gymnast at the Youth Commonwealth Games, winning three golds, a silver and a bronze.

The day was conclude with an evening celebration at Darley Abbey Park in Derby, where the cauldron was lit by the final Torchbearer of the day, two time World Superbike Champion, James Toseland.

During Day 42 the Flame travelled through the following communities: Nottingham, Newstead, Glapwell, Bolsover, Calow, Chesterfield, Matlock, Darley Dale, Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne, Derby.
