With just over three weeks until the first Olympic Football match takes place in Coventry, a large set of Olympic Rings has been launched in the city.
Giant Olympic Rings unveiled in Coventry
The Rings have been installed just outside the City of Coventry Stadium on the Rowley Green roundabout and will provide a spectacular backdrop to Coventry’s London 2012 celebrations.
Made of aluminium, they are approximately 8m wide by 4m high and will be an exciting feature in the city for the duration of the Olympic Games.
London 2012 Organising Committee Seb Coe said: 'The Olympic Rings are an iconic symbol, inspiring athletes and uniting people around the world. To athletes they represent the culmination of thousands of hours of training and reaching the highest level in sport. These Rings will excite and inspire residents and visitors to Coventry.’
The City of Coventry Stadium is one of the stadia hosting the Olympic Games Football tournament, 12 matches will be played in Coventry including the women's quarter-final and women’s bronze medal match.
Ticket prices start for the competition start at £20 for adults, with special prices available at most sessions including ‘Pay Your Age’ for those who are 16 or under and £16 for those 60 or over.
