Alun followed up being part of the RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam victory with Wales by leading his region to the RaboDirect PRO12 title and he has been rewarded for his success at the helm by being given the leadership duties once again.
This will equal Ryan Jones' record of three seasons as skipper.
"Our captain will be Alun Wyn," revealed head coach Steve Tandy.
"He brings effort and desire to the table and epitomises everything that is good about the team. I can't speak highly enough about the way he led the side last season.
"He's tireless in his work, puts the team first and commands the respect of the other players."
"He is a fantastic talent and a fantastic leader."
After missing several months with a toe injury the Swansea-born lock returned to Ospreys duty in the second-half of the season.
And while Wales' other regions failed to reach the play-offs the Liberty Stadium outfit went all the way thanks to a superb run of seven victories in a row.
Jones was a central figure in the Ospreys charge and the region were unbeaten in every match Jones played for them last season.
"I've spoken to him in the office since he came back from Wales's tour to Australia and he is looking forward to building on what we achieved last season," added Tandy.
"He'll be outstanding again next term. I'm sure he's champing at the bit to get back."
