The day began on the Tall Ship at the Riverside Museum, with the Torch carried by Torchbearer Emma Baird, 16, from St Carmyle. Emma was nominated for determination in overcoming health problems to play sport. Diagnosed as having Upper Femoral Epiphysis she was told she would not play sport again, however, after surgery, focus and hard work she is now part of her school's successful football team.
Emma was followed by 91 other inspirational Torchbearers during the day who carried the Flame through communities including Glasgow, Bearsden, Clydebank, Dumbarton, Luss, Tarbet, Crianlarich, Tyndrum, Glencoe, North Ballachulish, Fort William, Spean Bridge, Fort Augustus, Invermoriston, Lewiston, Drumnadrochit and Inverness.
During the afternoon the Flame travelled across Loch Ness by boat from Fort Augustus to Dumnadroicht, passing Urquhart Castle and paying a visit to the Rockness Festival at Dores.
The Last Torchbearer of the day, Sandra Ross, 62, from Nairn, carried the Flame into the Northern Meeting Park for the Evening Celebration. Sandra was selected through Bank of Scotland for her work at Nairn Amateur Athletics Club and her role as Convener of the Nairn Highland Games.
Towards the end of the two-hour Evening Celebration show, Sandra lit the celebration cauldron on stage at the event which enabled the Olympic Flame to be seen by the audience.
